If so, an internship with Midwest Communications in Hibbing could be just what you’re looking for! Our team of radio professionals is dedicated to providing the best possible experience for our listeners, and we’re always looking for talented individuals to join our team.
As an intern at Midwest Communications, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside experienced radio broadcasters and learn the ins and outs of the industry. From producing shows to creating marketing campaigns, you’ll get hands-on experience in all aspects of radio broadcasting.
We understand that as a student, your schedule may be busy. That’s why we offer flexible hours to accommodate your needs. Plus, if you’re looking to earn college credit, we can work with you and your school to make that happen.

Internship tasks and activities include, but are not limited to:
- A station tour, allowing you to meet the people who create the programs you hear day in and day out, as well as the sales team and our general manager!
- Discussions with Brand Managers about how to manage a station, including Programming, Music, Promotions, and more!
- Sit in with our traffic department to see how our ads are placed!
- Learn about the importance of commercials and Public Service Announcements, and see how they are produced, while also practicing yourself!
- See how we host shows in both live and voice-tracked environments, including preparation and execution.
- Meet with our Sales Team to learn about the process for getting a paying advertiser on the air, including the sale itself and writing ad copy.
- See a day in the life of our sports team, and potentially shadow them at a game.
- Helping prepare for and/or executing an on-location broadcast/remote
- Prepare, execute, and edit an interview!
