DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The Duluth Fire Department responded to reports of smoke and fire coming from the 2nd floor of an apartment building in the 1600 block of Commonwealth Avenue.
The fire was extinguished and confined to one unit of the four-plex. Residents in that unit and the apartment below were displaced and assisted in making temporary living arrangements.
Firefighters found a cat in the unit that had the fire. The cat was alive but in poor condition and was taken to the Blue Pearl Animal Hospital for evaluation after it was given oxygen at the scene.
The cause of the fire, reported at 7:13 on Thursday evening, is under investigation by the Duluth Fire Marshal’s Office.
