DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – A fire near Greenwood Lake, about 15 miles southwest of Isabella, was first discovered on Sunday afternoon and is rapidly growing due to high winds and dry vegetation.
The Greenwood Fire has prompted the Superior National Forest to close the McDougal Lake Recreation area and all visitors were cleared out on Sunday.
Future reservations are also canceled and will be fully refunded through August 30th.
Residents in the McDougal Lake area may need to evacuate and are being asked to prepare to leave if needed. The Lake County Sheriff’s Department would be in charge of any evacuations.
