DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The first ever Red Panda to reside at the Lake Superior Zoo in Duluth arrived earlier this month.
The 11 month old female red panda, named Zooree, is finishing up her quarantine and adjustment period and will be on display for the public in early May.
Zooree was born at the Kansas City Zoo and will be placed in a new habitat that was built in the center of the Lake Superior Zoo grounds near the playground.
The red panda is a critically endangered species and the zoo expects to receive a male companion for Zooree later in the year.
May also kicks off the Lake Superior Zoo’s annual membership drive with new members receiving an illustrated book about Zooree’s orientation at the zoo.
