UNDATED (KDAL) – The Duluth Women of Today are hosting a Veterans Day event at the World War One Memorial in West Duluth.
The Thursday ceremony begins at 11 a-m and features retired Marine Corps Lt. Colonel Donna Bergstrom as the main speaker.
The presiding officer of the ceremony is Navy Vietnam veteran Dwight Nelson, Commander of the American Legion Post 28.
Chaplain Father John Petrich will give the blessing and patriotic songs will be performed by the Denfeld High School Choir and Kerry Welsh on the bagpipes.
The event then moves to the West Duluth American Legion Post 71 for cake and coffee.
At 12:30 p-m, Congressman Pete Stauber will present a Combat Action Medal to an Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran.
The Duluth Drum and Bugle Corps will provide the entertainment.
In Superior, UWS will host a Veterans Day ceremony from 11 a-m to 1:30 p-m in the Atrium of the Yellowjacket Union.
The event is open to the public and features several guest speakers and live entertainment.
