DULUTH, MN (KDAL) – The City of Duluth has closed a portion of East 5th Street due to safety concerns following the lightning strike at the Hope City Church.
The stability of the structure is uncertain and will be evaluated by an engineer on Tuesday.
East 5th Street is closed to traffic from the intersection with 3rd Avenue East to about about 224 East 5th Street until further notice.
Lightning struck and destroyed one of the steeples of the church on Saturday night and also damaged the roof.
