Duluth, MN (KDAL) - With Duluth officials wrestling with how to pay for needed road repairs, a compromise appears to be in the works. On the K-D-A-L News Hour City Councilor Emily Larson said she says a deal could be struck in the coming days that may lead to a lower monthly fee. Because talks are still underway, Larson wouldn’t disclose how much lower that fee could be. Initially city hall was looking at imposing a monthly fee of more than eight-dollars to pay for the fixes. Larson says there needs to be a balance and she believes, in the long term, fees aren’t the best strategy to generating revenue. The funding shortage stems from Fond du Luth Casino putting the brakes on giving the city a share of its revenues.
