ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - Duluth State Senator Roger Reinert is expressing disappointment in the Senate Bonding Bill that was announced on Monday. The 1.16 billion dollar proposal leaves Duluth high priority projects with little or no funding. The bill included 1.5 million for UMD and 5.26 million for Lake Superior College projects and 6 million for the Norshor Theater revitalization. The Spirit Mountain water project got just 500,000 of a 3.4 million dollar request and the Lake Superior Zoo received 200 thousand dollars in planning money instead of the 2 million needed to replace the vacant polar bear exhibit with an amphitheater. The city's request for 5.7 million for Wade Stadium repairs was left completely out of the bill. The bill now goes to a conference committee.
