Duluth, MN (KDAL) - A longtime voice of northeastern Minnesota was remembered this afternoon at the DECC. Jim Oberstar, who represented the eighth congressional district for decades, passed away unexpectedly last month. Around 300 of his fans and supporters came together to remember Oberstar’s legacy and to support his family, who was on hand for the event. Among those who spoke were Senators Amy Klobuchar and Al Franken, Duluth Mayor Don Ness and Governor Mark Dayton. The memorial service opened with a video montage touching on the congressman’s work and accomplishments in the eighth district. The event was held in the Harbor Side Ballroom.
