Duluth, MN (KDAL) - The flood watches are no more—but heavy rainfall has closed some roads around St. Louis County. The county’s public works department says, at last check, Hayes Road in Great Scott Township between Highway 5 and McSweeney Road, Jones road in Great Scott Township, between Highway 25 and County Road 456, east olson road two miles east of Highway 53 and wood road, north of East Olson Road by about a mile were all closed. Meanwhile, warning signs are posted due to high water levels on Bodas Road between the Miller Trunk Highway and the Wellstone Memorial Site, White Road in Cherry Township south of Allavus Road, McSweeney Road south of Highway 92 and Spirit Lake Road at the intersection of Bonner Road. Several inches of rain fell over the weekend across the region, including close to six inches near Hibbing. Around the Twin Ports two-inch rainfall amounts have been common. Some good news for commuters, Highway 24, which was closed Sunday due to a washed out culvert has since reopened following repairs.
