BEATTY TOWNSHIP, MN (KDAL) - A man from Excelsior, MN received significant injuries yesterday while snowmobiling on Arrowhead Trail. Fifty-nine-year-old Hollis Fritts Jr. was attempting to avoid two oncoming snowmobiles when he was thrown from his own snowmobile near the 2100 block of Vermillion Drive around 3 in the afternoon.
The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to the crash and say Fritts was heading westbound when he saw two other snowmobiles headed eastbound towards him. In response, Fritts swerved into a snowbank and was ejected from his snowmobile into a tree.
He was transported by ambulance to Cook Hospital and later to a Duluth hospital. His condition is unknown.
