DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - Sunshine on Thursday morning will give way to a winter storm that will move across the northland in the afternoon and overnight and drop 10 to 14 inches of snow in the Twin Ports area and even higher amounts in the Minnesota Arrowhead and much of northern Wisconsin. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until noon Friday. The heaviest snow is expected to fall between 6 p-m Thursday and 6 a-m on Friday. Northwest winds gusting up to 40 miles per hour will result in considerable blowing and drifting snow and near whiteout conditions at times, especially in open rural areas. Driving will become difficult as roads become snow covered and slippery. The heavy, wet snow and high winds also has the potential to bring down tree branches and power lines.
