DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - The Minnesota AAA says roads and airports are expected to be busier than usual this Labor Day weekend. Nationwide over 34.7 million people will travel 50 miles or more from home, up about 1.3 percent from last year. Much of the increase is due to gas prices that are the lowest for the Labor Day weekend in four years. Nationwide, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded is 3.42 while the Minnesota average is at 3.32. In Duluth, prices range from 3.35 to 3.37 a gallon with most Superior stations now charging 3.37. AAA says those traveling by air will find airfares a bit higher this year and most hotels are also charging more.
