Duluth, MN (KDAL) - Earlier this week, a delegation from the Duluth area and Minnesota Lieutenant Governor Yvonne Prettner Solon made a trip to Washington D.C. to meet with top officials with the F-A-A and the Pentagon to secure money to reconstruct the main ten thousand foot runway at the Duluth Airport. Prettner Solon says while that runway is being worked on, planes need to use the other runway which is too short. So until that is extended, the main runway can’t be torn up and redone. On the KDAL John Gilbert Show, Prettner Solon says the main runway will need to be extended in the next decade. The city qualifies for funding with that project, but Prettner Solon says questions remain whether it qualifies for funding to extend the cross-wind runway. The effort also has the support of Senators Al Franken and Amy Klobuchar as well as Congressman Rick Nolan.
