Duluth, MN (KDAL) - The D-N-R says they’ve confirmed that a wolf trapped and killed is the same one that bit a teen last month. According to the Department of Natural Resources, D-N-A testing confirms that the one-and-a-half year-old male gray wolf that was put down August 26th also bit a 16 year-old boy just two days earlier near Lake Winnibigoshish. The teenager’s injuries were not life threatening. Wildlife officials were baffled as to why the wolf bit the teen when they say wolf attacks on humans are rare. In the necropsy, authorities documented a number of abnormal conditions that they say may’ve contributed to the wolf biting the teen. Among those, they say they wolf had a severe facial deformity, dental abnormalities and brain damage.
