Brewers' general manager Doug Melvin says there's "absolutely nothing" to a blog report

(WNFL) - Milwaukee Brewers' general manager Doug Melvin says there's "absolutely nothing" to a blog report that Ryan Braun might be headed to the New York Mets.  Melvin tells the Journal Sentinel there's "no truth" to the rumor that the Mets would send first baseman Ike Davis to the Crew in exchange for Braun, the 2011 National League M-V-P who had a season-ending 65-game suspension this year for taking performance-enhancing drugs from the former Bio-Genesis clinic.  The G-M also said the Brewers have never contacted any team about a possible trade, and they have no intentions to.  Melvin did say he received inquiries from four-or-five teams at a recent general managers' meeting in Orlando -- and they were generally asking whether the Brewers would want to part company with Braun.  The Brewers owe him 127-million dollars over the next seven years -- and there have been rumors that Milwaukee would be willing to pay some of that to a club that would take Braun and his negative image off their hands.  The Detroit Tigers reportedly gave the Texas Rangers 30-million dollars to help cover the remaining seven years of Prince Fielder's contract, when they dealt the ex-Brewers' first baseman to Texas yesterday for second baseman Ian Kinsler.
