UNDATED (KDAL) - The Split Rock Lighthouse on the north shore of Lake Superior will commemorate the loss of the Edmund Fitzgerald with a beacon lighting on Sunday. The annual lighting is the only opportunity to witness the lit beacon from inside the tower. The lighthouse will close temporarily at 4:30 p-m when the names of the 29 crew members of the Edmund Fitzgerald will be read to the tolling of a bell. After the ceremony, the beacon will be lit and tours of tower will resume. The ore carrier sank in Lake Superior on November 10th, 1975.
