Mid-Air Collision: F-A-A Says It Could Be Months Before Cause is Determined

Duluth, MN (KDAL) - It may take investigators a couple of months to determine why two skydiving planes collided in mid-air Saturday evening.  The F-A-A’s Tony Molinaro tells K-D-A-L News investigators will sift through and review all aspects of both damaged planes, including each of their maintenance records.   They'll also talk with both of the pilots and all of the skydivers who were on-board at the time.  No-one was seriously hurt when the Cesna C-185 and C-182 collided 12,000 feet up over Superior.  When considering the time that it will take investigators to figure out exactly what happened, Molinaro notes that they’re also investigating other hard landings and crashes, across the Great Lakes states.  That includes the fatal plane crash that happened over the weekend in southeastern Minnesota, which claimed the lives of three Michigan men.
