DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - About 75 people packed the Zeitgeist Arts atrium in old downtown Thursday night to celebrate this week's passage of same-sex marriage legislation. The "Duluth United Marriage Equality Celebration" kicked off with speeches from City Council President Patrick Boyle and others, and included local music, food and drink. Speeches focused on the influence Duluth volunteer groups had on lawmakers in other areas of the state -- such as Moorhead, Brainerd and Detroit Lakes -- in helping pass the legislation. It was a jubilant scene as supporters reveled for a couple of hours before heading over to the Flame Nightclub for further festivities. The event was organized by the Northeast Area Labor Council and Minnesotans United coalition partners.
