SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) - Superior dogs and their owners can reap ample benefits today by heading to Miranda's Smooch a Pooch Salon for a free basic grooming and a discounted microchipping. The event raises money for a designated Animal Allies fund that helps pay for spay and neutering. The aim is to bring down shelter populations by microchipping dogs and offering accessible ways for owners to spay and neuter their dogs who otherwise might not be able to afford it. Local veterinarian Amanda Bruce will offer microchip replacements and registration for a discounted $30. Bruce runs the clinic PetCare of Duluth, in West Duluth, which offers veterinary services at 25- to 40-percent less than the going rate. The Chip-n-clip event goes from noon to 3 p.m. today, at 1827 Iowa Ave., Superior.
