VIRGINIA, MN (KDAL) - In Virginia, a 16-year-old high school student with a passion for history wants to start a preservation society, and you could help him. Tucker Nelson, who works part time for the Iron Range Tourism Bureau, is holding a meeting this Wednesday in an effort to establish the group, tentatively called the Iron Country Preservation Alliance. His aim is to raise awareness about options for historical sites and buildings through education, donations and lobbying efforts. And then, of course, to preserve or restore them. While local historical societies are busy keeping museums and collecting stories, Nelson's group would be specific to preserving buildings and landmarks. The meeting takes place 4:30 Wednesday afternoon at the Virginia Public Library auditorium. Anyone interested is invited to attend.
