New Study Shows "Bath Salts" More Potent Than Methamphetamine

UNDATED (KDAL) - A new study indicates the synthetic drug known as "bath salts" is more potent and could be more addictive than methamphetamine.  The study, done by the Scripps Research Institute, found that rats pressed a lever as many as 900 times while trying to get a dose of bath salts which is four times the effort exerted trying to get a similar dose of meth.  Researchers also said that while rats were high on the bath salts they exhibited what they called "extreme behavior" similar to the "zombie-like" behavior that humans show while high on the synthetic drug.  The study was published in the August issue of "Neuropharmacology."
