DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - The St. Louis County Public Health and Human Services Department is hoping to get an accurate count of unsheltered homeless people. The county will work with community service providers and agencies to conduct the federally required "Point-in-Time" Homeless Count. Money and resources are awarded to communities to fight homelessness based on the documented counts of homeless people and families. "Unsheltered homeless" for this count is defined as a person who has a place of nighttime residence not meant for human habitation. That would include those living in cars, parks, abandoned buildings, bus stations and wooded areas. The count will take place for the night of January 23rd.
