DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - The Twin Ports area is following a nationwide trend of surging flu cases. Essentia Health reports patents have been coming to Emergency and Urgent Care Departments with flu-like symptoms and 7 are currently hospitalized with confirmed cases of influenza. Another dozen are in the hospital still awaiting the results of testing for the flu. Health experts say this year's flu vaccine is a good match for the strains now circulating in the area. Flu shots are available at various clinics and from your doctor and are recommended to help prevent getting the flu. Most healthy people can treat the flu at home but should stay away from work or school for at least 24 hours after the fever goes away to prevent spreading the sickness around.
