SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) - A Superior Police investigation into the death of Douglas Moen on Thursday has so far revealed that Moen had fallen about 8 ft. down an elevator shaft while moving furniture in a dark warehouse space with two other men. After interviewing the other men, police said in a release that Moen, 65, had tried to find a light switch before falling down the shaft; the men heard the noise of the fall and Moen subsequently yelling for help. The men drove Moen to Essentia Health Emergency Room in Superior in lieu of an ambulance. He died from his injuries a few hours later. The Duluth News Tribune reported Moen was a well-known collector of vintage apparel whose clothing had appeared in films such as Iron Will, North Country and A Prairie Home Companion. The paper also reported Moen was known as generous of heart and a man who never denied a favor.
