ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - The Minnesota Department of Health reports another 12 people died from the flu last week , which brings the total deaths for the season in the state to 148. Over 2700 people were hospitalized with the flu since October of last year. Officials say the flu season peaked in late December and January and was more severe than it was in previous years. Meanwhile, the Centers for Disease Control has released new estimates of the flu vaccine effectiveness. Although it worked about 56 percent of the time, officials say a better vaccine is needed especially for seniors.
