WASHINGTON, D.C. (KDAL) - A coalition of wildlife protection groups have filed suit against the U-S Fish and Wildlife Service over its decision to remove gray wolves from the protections of the Endangered Species Act. The decision to de-list the wolves in the western Great Lakes region became effective last year and both Minnesota and Wisconsin held wolf hunts later in the year. Hunters and trappers took over 500 wolves in the two states. The Humane Society of the U-S, Born Free USA, Help Our Wolves Live and the Friends of Animals and Their Environment filed the suit in Federal District Court.
