Snow Event, but Not Major Storm

DULUTH, MN (KDAL) - The Northland can expect anywhere from 6 to 12 inches of snow during the winter storm starting today, the bulk of which is expected to fall this afternoon and evening. Snow and freezing drizzle will spread from the south of the Northland to the north this morning, according to the National Weather Service in Duluth. Strong easterly winds could result in limited visibility, especially near the lake where winds will be the strongest. The snow is expected to slow later tonight and gradually dissipate by Monday evening. The snowfall is expected to be heaviest inland, where Grand Rapids, Big Fork, Virginia and other central- and north-central Minnesota towns might see 10 to 12 inches. Portions of northern Wisconsin well-inland from Lake Superior likely will get less snow, to the tune of 6 to 8 inches. Officials urge caution during the storm as travel conditions will deteriorate rapidly this afternoon.
