Duluth, MN (KDAL) - The Minnesota Department of Transportation is asking motorists to drive carefully, that’s after the state patrol responded to 111 spinouts, crashes and other incidents related to the weather. With frigid weather and blowing snow, slippery conditions could continue throughout this Christmas week. Mn DOT District One Operations Engineer Pat Huston says many of the crashes happened (quote) “…because people were driving too fast…Motorists should expect slippery spots and drive with that in mind.” (end quote) Mn DOT snowplow crews have worked continuously for three weeks to clean up the roads.
In related news… the City of Duluth is asking for help from drivers. Officials remind motorists that work crews on the scene of water main breaks or gas leaks often have to juggle weather conditions and traffic. When you see orange, please slow down. When approaching work sites, use extreme caution and slow down.
