Duluth, MN (KDAL) - As if the slippery, snow packed roads weren’t enough—the early blast of winter has led to another hassle for public works and utility crews. The city says workers are on the scene of three water main breaks in Harbor Highlands neighborhood along Central Entrance, Woodland as well as on Rice’s Point. Speaking of the latter 12-inch main, crews will have to shut off water at 11:00. The water will also be turned off as workers repair the two smaller eight-inch mains in the Woodland and Harbor Highlands area. Repairs should be wrapped up by evening. The breaks, which were discovered overnight, are usually caused by fluctuating temperatures, which shift the underground pipes.
