SUPERIOR, WI (KDAL) - Acting on a citizen tip, Superior Police were alerted to a vehicle matching the description of the one used in a strong armed robbery that occurred on Sunday morning. As officers approached the older blue Chevrolet Lumina, the vehicle was occupied by a single person and was driving away from a location on Broadway Street, just east of Hammond Avenue. A short pursuit began when the driver sped off as he saw the marked police car. The suspect's vehicle then hit two parked cars before crashing into the TLK Industries building at 902 Ogden Avenue. The vehicle was later determined to have been stolen from Duluth. The driver was wearing clothes consistent with the description given in the Sunday morning robbery and property located in the vehicle also linked him to the crime. The suspect has been identified as 47 year old Scott Montana from Duluth. He is being held in the Douglas County Jail after being treated and released at a hospital for minor injuries sustained in the collision with the parked vehicles and the building. He faces a variety of charges including robbery, burglary, battery, vehicle theft, fleeing an officer and a Department of Corrections warrant from Minnesota.
