Care home bosses criticised over TV writer's death

From WENN.com

The 89 year old, who was behind popular 1960s U.K. TV sitcom On The Buses, tumbled down a flight of stairs at the Eastside House Residential Care Home in Temple Fortune, north London in December (11).

He died in hospital three days later.

An inquest into his death at North London Coroner's Court has concluded more should have been done to prevent the tragedy, and coroner Andrew Walker ordered staff to improve safety conditions to make sure vulnerable residents are given the help they need.

He told the hearing on Tuesday (09Oct12), ""It seems clear that (Wolfe) was left alone for a period of time, it's also clear he was identified as a person who needed assistance climbing up and down the stairs.""

Walker also paid tribute to Wolfe's ""huge contribution to British TV"", describing him as ""hugely intelligent and funny"".
