Duluth, MN (KDAL) - The beautiful music in the Twin Cities is silent this Holiday Season. Both the Minneapolis Orchestra and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra have locked out their musicians and have cancelled concerts through the middle of January. That leaves the State's largest professional orchestra here in Duluth....the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra.
Executive Director Rebecca Peterson says that they are doing some marketing in the Twin Cities hoping to attract patrons to Duluth, especially for their famous New Year's Eve program at the DECC.
The problem in the Twin Cities is with the pay that musicians are making. Players are being asked to take up to a forty percent cut in pay to balance the books.
