BRAINERD, MN (KDAL) - The Minnesota Department of Traffic Safety is coordinating extra seat belt enforcement in ten Minnesota counties with the highest rates of unbelted deaths and serious injuries. St. Louis County is one of the targeted counties. Minnesota law requires the driver and all passengers to be buckled up or in the correct child restraints. State, county and local officers will stop and ticket unbelted drivers or passengers. The fine is 25 dollars but could cost more than a hundred dollars with court and administrative fees.
