MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) - A woman spent four hours Monday telling a federal court jury how former Milwaukee police officer Ladmarald Cates raped her after she called 911.

The woman said she got into a fight with her teenage neighbors in July of 2010, and she called police after they retaliated by throwing bricks through her windows.

Cates responded, and he allegedly raped the woman and forced her to have oral sex.

She testified that Cates had stopped her vehicle twice before. The first time, she said he gave her his phone number and told her to call him. The second time, he asked why she never called. And he asked the same question while responding to the vandalism.

Cates's lawyer questioned the woman's credibility, saying she was inconsistent in what she told investigators.

The U.S. attorney's office charged Cates after Milwaukee County prosecutors failed to do so. He's charged with violating the woman's civil rights as a police officer, and using a firearm in committing violence.

Cates faces life in prison if convicted. He was fired from the Milwaukee police force late in 2010.
