ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - The latest aerial survey by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources shows that the state's moose population continues to decline.  The moose count in the 2012 survey is estimated to be 4,230 which is down from 4,900 last year.  The population has been decreasing since 2006 when 8,840 moose were estimated to roam the state.  There were some positive trends seen in this year's survey including the number of female moose accompanied by calves and twin calves increased over a year ago.  The DNR will evaluate the data and consult with tribal biologists before making a decision on 2012 moose hunting season.
