St. Paul, MN (KDAL) - Senate Majority Leader Tom Bakk of Cook says that lawmakers will get to work right away on the anticipated billion dollars that the State of Minnesota is predicted to come up short on during the next biennium. He says that he is confident that working with the Governor a plan can be formulated to deal with the budget shortfall.
There is talk at the Capitol that the Governor may also be floating plans for a huge bonding bill, one of the largest ever, two billion dollars. The Governor's office is quiet on spending and taxing plans for the coming two years.
The State Legislature gets down to business on January 8th.
