Minneapolis, MN (KDAL) - A few days earlier than last year, the Army Corps of Engineers will shut down lock and dam number two in Hastings, Minnesota, closing off commercial navigation on the upper portion of the Mississippi River from Minneapolis to Guttenberg, Iowa.

Over the winter repairs will be made to lock and dam number six between Minnesota and Wisconsin at Trempealeau.  That work will be completed in March of next year.
