UNDATED (KDAL) - It has been quite a windy couple of days in northern Minnesota as gusts approached 50 miles per hour in the Twin Ports area late Tuesday into Wednesday morning. At one time, about 3 thousand customers of Lake Country Power in the Grand Rapids and Mt. Iron areas were without electricity as winds blew trees and limbs onto power lines. The National Weather Service also reports that it was a tornado touchdown near Park Rapids on Monday that caused some damage. The twister tore the roof off the Hubbard County Fairgrounds grandstand and it landed 150 yards away hitting a home and a vehicle. On Sunday there was a tornado that uprooted some trees west of Silver Bay but did not cause any major damage. That was the first confirmed tornado in Lake County in nearly 19 years.
