ST. PAUL, MN (KDAL) - The shutdown of the government in Minnesota has now become the longest for any state in recent memory.  The state government stopped doing business on July 1st after the Democratic Governor Mark Dayton and Republican leaders of the legislature failed to reach a compromise on a five billion dollar budget hole.  Thousands of state workers have been furloughed, state parks are closed, the Minnesota Zoo is closed and state roadwork has come to a halt.  Emergency agencies, the state's court system, the state patrol and food stamp programs are continuing during the shutdown.
