(St. Paul, MN) -- A Republican lawmaker plans to introduce a bill this week that would provide healthcare for very low-income Minnesotans and bring down overall costs. Representative Steve Gottwalt of St.Cloud says the state could save 350-million dollars a year under his plan to help subsidize coverage for people on MinnesotaCare. He claims it will still provide quality coverage. The Minnesota Senate has already passed a bill that extends the GAMC program for another 16 months. But Republicans say extending it in its current form is not the solution.
