PORTAGE -- Portage Police aren't sure why two cars were speeding past other vehicles headed east on West Centre Avenue just before 1 p.m. Sunday, but one of them went out of control in the 3300 block and struck a tree. The 71-year-old driver was rushed to Bronson Emergency in critical condition. His name has not been released. Police would like to find the other driver, said to be behind the wheel of a small black car. They are investigating and asking anyone who may have information on the crash to give them a call.
