City of Grand Rapids / Public Utilities Commission Compost Site:
The City of Grand Rapids, Public Utilities Commission and Itasca County have a public compost site for yard waste such as grass clippings and leaves. The composted material is turned twice a year and once compost material has decayed it is available to the public. Compost yard waste recycles nutrients back into the soil and saves landfill waste. The compost yard site is located on the north side of River Road approximately 450 east of the intersection of 8th Street SE and River Road (County Road 23). Our compost site is strictly for residential use and not commercial. We do not accept branches or garbage. If you have questions please contact Jeff Davies at 218-326-7480 or PW Administrative Assistant at 218-326-7481.
