Three Things I Know- Fantasy Edition heading into week 6

I love playing fantasy football, even when my team has bad weeks. However, there is a difference between having a bad week and seeing early round picks potentially derail the season. This week was one of those weeks.

Now I’m done (Sort of)

I said last week I was going to give David Wilson one more week before I was off the train, and as I was getting ready to beam with confidence after he scored the touchdown he had to suffer the neck injury. So even though he’s got the most upside of any Giant running back I have to bench him, but not cutting bait yet. I want to see how serious the injury is, I will keep an eye on whoever the Giants are looking at off the street (assuming they do), and it may be *GULP* Brandon Jacobs. At this point the whole team is a mess, and no Giant running back is worth owning. Nicks, Cruz and Randle in deeper leagues are the skill players to own. Eli is a plug and play option.

Is there a tougher wide receiver in the NFL then Julio Jones? The kid ran at the combine with a broken foot and proceeded to run a 4.3, but on Monday night he broke the screw!!! In his foot in then hauled in a 46 yard pass. My reaction was like most, and was sheer sickness in the pit of my stomach and then scour the waiver wire. The problem is if you’re looking at the Falcons for a replacement it’s not going to be there, there are other places to look (Terrance Williams- Dallas, Austin Pettis- St. Louis, Ruben Randle- New York Giants are a few.)

Ram tough?

Going into the season all the talk about the St. Louis Rams offense was about rookie wide receiver Tavon Austin, although we’ve actually seen a regression not only in production, but in snaps as well. He just 23 snaps in Sunday's win over the Jags, which is less than Chris Givens, Austin Pettis and Brian Quick. He still saw six targets as the Rams attempted to get him the ball, but so far unsuccessful. Austin needs a ton of space to operate and he's just not getting it. Through his first five NFL games, the No. 8 overall pick has 23 catches for 156 yards and two touchdowns. The guy I want in St. Louis right now is Austin Pettis.
