GRAMMY AWARDS: Taylor, Civil Wars Lead Country Winners

  • It was a great night to be Taylor Swift. The country star will take home two Grammy awards from last night's show including Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song for "Mean." She performed her award-winning song as well -- introduced by two-time Grammy winners The Civil Wars -- changing the lyric at end to say, "Some day I'll be singing this at the Grammys..." Afterwards she tweeted, "My two new friends! I had so much fun tonight!"

  • Lady Antebellum seemed surprised when their name was called as winners in the Best Country Album category for Own the Night. They immediately took to social networking to express their thanks, tweeting "Wow. We can't even describe how excited we are. This is incredible! Thank you Grammys. Thank you all of our fans. Thank you!" They also presented the final award of the night, Record of the Year, to Adele for "Rolling In the Deep."
  • Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson looked like they enjoyed every minute of their performance of the hit single, "Don't You Wanna Stay." Jason, dressed in a charcoal pin-stripe suit and his signature cowboy hat, and Kelly, dressed in a black floor-length gown, were grinning from ear-to-ear during their entire performance.
  • Carrie Underwood joined double-Grammy winner Tony Bennett on stage for the classic standard "It Had to Be You." The song appears on his Duets Two album.
  • Miranda Lambert and Dierks Bentley presented the Best Country Album award to Lady Antebellum, but during the broadcast Ran found herself seated next to Lady Gaga. She tweeted, "Y'all, I have a new friend! Lady Gaga from New York City and a Texas girl. Who knew? She is really sweet..."
  • Vince Gill was recognized during the pre-tel portion of the Grammys by an unexpected award recipient. The Foo Fighters thanked him for encouraging media to come to pre-tel a few years earlier saying, "These matter."
