Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are fighting to keep animals from being euthanized in the shelter they donated to the city of Tishamingo, Oklahoma. A city ordinance is mandating that animals who have been in the shelter for more than three days be put down because of overcrowding.
Miranda and Blake have tweeted their opposition:
@Blake Shelton posted: "That animal shelter was donated by Miranda and myself... THATS why it's so upsetting. Help and assistance from us is only one call away."
Miranda's Muttnation foundation is getting involved in the cause. @Miranda Lambert posted, "It's Muttnation Foundation's mission to make the Tishomingo animal shelter a no kill shelter and we will do it."
According to a report aired by television station KWTV, city officials are working on a proposal to extend the time period animals have to be adopted or returned to their owners.
