TOP OF THE CHARTS: Jamey Johnson Jamey Johnson has the nation's number-one country album with Guitar Song, which sold an impressive 63,000 copies in its first week, according to the latest SoundScan figures. The big debut bumps Lady Antebellum's Need You Now, which sold 16,000 copies, to number two. The Now That's Country compilation snuck in to take number three, dropping Zac Brown Band's The Foundation to number four. And Miranda Lambert rounds out the Top 5 with Revolution.
Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman are big fans of American Idol -- they even record it when Keith's on the road. And Keith is excited that Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler in particular have been announced as the show's new judges. Keith says, "He'd certainly be entertaining. He'd be a good mentor too."
Shania Twain has signed a deal to write her autobiography. Shania says realizing her own mortality made her want to put her life story on paper. "Recently I experienced one of those moments to an intensity that brought on a sudden urgency to document my life before I ran out of time, before I had the opportunity to share an honest and complete account of my life, in my own words." The as-yet-untitled memoir will be in stores next spring. CARRIE, FAITH, DARIUS: Christmas in October The hit compilation series Now is about to release a Christmas collection that features a number of country stars. Included on Now That's What I Call Christmas, Volume Four are Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Toby Keith and Darius Rucker, along with such pop stars as Sheryl Crow and Colbie Caillait. A second disc includes classic holiday cuts from the likes of Bing Crosby and Nat King Cole. Now That's What I Call Christmas, Volume Four will be in stores October 12th.
Miranda Lambert visited schools in her hometown of Lindale, Texa,s to thank them for their support in the Nickels for Nashville campaign, which raised money for the flood recovery efforts in Tennessee. East Texas' KLTV reports that as a show of appreciation, Miranda gave each school a framed, autographed photo. |
