John Mellencamp says he's on a "personal campaign" to get "whoever the folks are that do this Nobel Peace Prize thing" to consider Willie Nelson. Interviewed recently at L.A.'s GrammyMuseum, Mellencamp pointed to Nelson's tireless work on behalf of family farmers in the 25 years since Farm-Aid started. "I've helped him and Neil [Young]'s helped him and Dave [Matthews] has helped him, but [we've] just worked from the neck down, [but] the whole thing was dreamt up by Willie; Willie makes all the decisions -- They ought to take a look at Willie Nelson for all the good he's done for the American farmer and people in crisis and the lives he's saved and the money he's donated." |
