Snowy Vortex

Posted by Lauri Quinn Loewenberg on

Dear Lauri,

I dreamed I was back in my grandparents’ house. Grandfather’s floating staircase, the rock garden underneath, sky light above in their bedroom all his designs were so real. His furniture and art all back in the same places, just as it was growing up. Then the doorbell rang with a pizza delivery. It was snowing outside. Several people jumped out of the delivery car with samples like at SAMS Club on Sunday. Snow started falling in giant flakes through the skylight. I asked my mother what to do and she said, “No worries Kim. We have a vortex.”– Kimberly 41, Myrtle Beach, SC

Lauri:  Our grandparents home can represent a part of our life that we feel is getting old. This could also be where the snow comes in. Are you growing cold towards something or someone? Your grandparents’ home could also represent the place within your psyche where your creative ideas come from, because it seems your grandfather was a very creative man. Are you in a creative field? If so, that's what the snowflakes are: your creative ideas. Just as no snowflake is exactly the same, neither are your ideas. The doorbell may mean opportunity is knocking, so to speak. All the samples could be choices that are now before you. The question you ask your mother is really a question you are posing to yourself. Where in your life are you wondering what to do? Whatever it is, the answer is not to worry.

Kim replies: I am an artist. I have been given the opportunity to work more from home and not have to travel as much. I am not ready to make the leap but the road life is hard on the body: lifting and driving all these years is hard on the back. Grandfather’s house was for sure my creative place. Every time I dream about his home I have a hard time waking up in fear I will forget the details of his house. I do have many great things happening so the samples make sense. Thank you Lauri! You are wonderful!
