"Dreams, if they're any good, are always a little bit crazy." — Ray Charles
Dear Lauri: I dreamt that my whole family got together, my brother built a fire and my mom brought out the body of a dog to roast over the fire. It was the body of our family pet. I ran off crying, they all stayed there waiting to eat. – Mallory 40, Cincinnati, OH
Lauri: You'd be surprised how many people dream of cooking up the family pet! What's been upsetting the most to you lately in real life? The dead dog represents something that has seemingly ended or died off. It could be a relationship, someone’s loyalty to another or perhaps someone is acting out or rebelling rather than being obedient. Since your mother was the one bringing the dog, it may have something to do with your own role as a mother. Whatever it is, your dream is showing you that this is beginning to really eat away at you since the dog was gonna be dinner.
Mallory replies: I think this has to do with my kids’ blatant opposition to everything they are told to do. Wow, I can usually read my dreams pretty well but I didn't see that one. It makes a lot of sense to me now. Thank you!
FASCINATING SLEEP FACT: In a recent study at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in Chicago, researchers randomly selected 439 adults and found that whites slept significantly longer than other racial/ethnic groups. Blacks reported the worst sleep quality, and Asians were most likely to report daytime sleepiness.
